Gartner evaluated INFINIDAT as visionary three years in a row: 2015-2017. In 2018 Gartner moved INFINIDAT to the leaders’ sector in the Magic Quadrant for General-Purpose Disk Arrays. At the same time, on the “Completeness of Vision” scale, INFINIDAT outpaced the market leaders like HPE, Dell EMC, Hitachi Vantara, IBM. One of the weak points that INFINIDAT had was lack of stretched cluster.
Therefore, an announcement of the INFINIDAT metro cluster is a response to Gartner's remarks and the requirements of the modern IT market. The solution is called InfiniBox Always On Cluster.
INFINIDAT’s InfiniBox architecture has been designed from the ground up as a triple-redundant symmetric access solution, doing away with the old dual-controller architecture and providing customers 7 nines (99.99999%) reliability.
The InfiniBox Always On solution answers all the requirements listed above, and comprises of 2 InfiniBox systems plus a witness spread across 3 separate fault-domains with redundant IP networking between them. This enables customers to a move off traditional dual-controller architecture to triple-controller in each site with another layer of redundancy above them. This architecture resulting in the highest level of availability as failover between relies on simple path failover - just like an HBA / switch failure!
Always On is organically developed as part of InfiniBox, doesn’t require a separate gateway and is provided as a free software upgrade to all INFINIDAT customers with an active support contract. This solves all of the challenges above, while at the same time providing the lowest performance overhead for Always On in the industry.
Key differences of InfiniBox Always On Cluster solution:
The Always On solution is integrated into the InfiniBox storage system, does not require any separate gateway, and is available to all current INFINIDAT storage users with a valid support agreement as a free software update.
INFINIDAT launched a data availability guarantee program for customers who use the Always On (Active / Active) solution. Customers can use the Always On Guarantee, which implies vendor compensation in case of problems with data access.
Data Unavailability - End User is unable, due to circumstances for which it is not in any manner responsible, to access and utilize the Protected Stored Data on at least one of the InfiniBoxes in the Always On System and such unavailability is not scheduled and is for a duration of greater than 30 seconds and occurs during a period when the Always On System is under paid for maintenance
In order to emphasize and stand by our Data Availability Commitment to our End Users, in the event that there is Data Unavailability, INFINIDAT will provide the following:
Procurement Model & Description | Remedy for the Affected Solution | Remedy Claim Period |
“InfiniBox FLX”: Paying per use periodically on an INFINIDAT provided a box | “InfiniBox FLX”: Paying per use periodically on an INFINIDAT provided a box | Prior to the next billing cycle |
COD: Adding additional capacity to a pre-purchased box | Credit for additional capacity equivalent to 50% of the Protected Stored Data at the time of Data Unavailability, or credit toward an extension of INFINIDAT maintenance and services for a period of six (6) months, up to a value of $50,000 USD | Within a month of Data Unavailability |
Fully Acquired Always On System (“CapEx”): Fully paid-up for entire available capacity | A future discount of 10% off any INFINIDAT Product purchase, or credit toward an extension of INFINIDAT maintenance and services fees for a period of six (6) months, up to a value of $50,000 USD | Within a year of Data Unavailability |
